Press Release:
MURIC LECTURES ON POLITICAL VIOLENCE 8th March 2007
There is no gainsaying the fact the political arena in Nigeria has witnessed a high degree of lawlessness, thuggery and hooliganism. Nigerians seem to have adopted their own brand of democracy which must be interpreted along the lines of the apostles of ‘Moletecracy’ or ‘Alamicracy’. The real dividends of democracy remain elusive from the oppressed masses. The result is the chaos in which we find our dear country, Nigeria. Forty-six and a half years after independence, there are no good roads, pipe bourne water is a mirage. The education sector is stunted by under-funding and cultism. Our hospitals are public mortuaries. Power supply is epileptic.
The only way out is to educate the people about their rights. The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has assumed this task and will not relent in its efforts to emancipate the jamaheer from the shackles of ‘moletecracy’ and ‘alamicracy’. Muslims are in the majority in Nigeria. This means that they are the ones who bear the brunt most of the time.
An open enlightenment forum is planned to hold in Iwo, Oshun State (comprising Gbongan, Odeomu, Kuta, Ile-Igbo, Ejioku, Ogbagba, etc) on Saturday, 10th March 2007 at the Iwo City Hall from 4 pm.
The theme of the forum is 'Islam & Political Violence'. Shaykh Daud Imran Malaasan, the president of the Taawunil Muslimeen in Iwoland and Barrister Qasim Odedeji are the speakers of the day. The occasion will be chaired by Professor O. O. Ladipo while Shaykh Abdul Razaq Abdul Rahman and Professor Lai Olurode are the chief host and special guests respectively.
