The following are the aims and objectives of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC):
To defend the legitimate and fundamental rights of Muslims in Nigeria and beyond;
To redeem the good name of Islam and Muslims by ensuring that members manifest good leadership traits and good moral behaviour in general;
To engage in dialogue on behalf of Muslims during crisis;
To encourage peaceful co-existence between Muslims and followers of other religions;
To discourage acts of violence;
To enlighten fellow Muslims about their Allah-given and fundamental rights;
To work towards ensuring freedom of worship for every Nigerian Muslim in any part of the country;
To educate fellow Muslims and the general public about the true teachings of Islam (e.g. love, tolerance, forgiveness, peaceful co-existence) which add value to life and create a conducive atmosphere for peace and progress;
To encourage transparency and good governance among Muslim leaders in particular and others in general;
To promote the unity of the Ummah within Nigeria and beyond;
To work towards strengthening the Ummah;
To facilitate the economic empowerment of Muslims;
To liberate Islamic scholars from the shackles of extremism;
To emancipate Muslims in general from the narrow confines of taboo and ill-defined tradition;
To promote the principles of the dignity of labour and the virtues of educational pursuits among Muslim youths;
To encourage Muslim youths to eschew crime and be law-abiding;
To protect the rights of endangered Muslim women;
To create awareness for the rights of the Muslim child to education, good nourishment and shelter and
To protect the Allah-given rights of the environment (the sea, trees, animals, birds, fishes, etc.)
